The aim of DGN Music
Boosters is to support and enhance the musical education of the over 450 Band,
Choir and Orchestra students at Downers Grove North High School. Through the
dedicated efforts of student and parent volunteers, music staff, and supporters,
we were able to do the following last year:

Fit
marching band uniforms for about 180 students
·
Provided
hospitality at over 20 concerts and assistance at another 18 events
·
Chaperoned
music-related field trips
·
Coordinated
accounts for many students participating in school-sponsored tours.
·
Held
end-of-the-year banquets for the Orchestra, Choir, and Band programs
·
Fit
robes for all of the Choir students
·
Published
a semi-monthly on-line Newsletter to keep families informed
·
Provided
over $8,000 in scholarships to 21 students attending music camps.
·
And
so much more!

Boosters may be made to the Contributing Members Fund. These contributions primarily fund music

A Note About Fundraising
Unlike most student
organizations, Music Booster fundraisers benefit students directly. Fundraising profits earned by each student are
deposited directly into their “music student accounts”, from which they can
make withdrawals to pay for musical expenses like music trips, private lessons,
instruments, equipment, sheet music, and much more. For a better understanding of how this works,

Funding
The money raised in our
general fund each year through Music Boosters fundraisers goes directly to pay
for various booster-sponsored programs and events. If a large enough balance accumulates over
time, funds are used to purchase equipment on the Music Directors’ “wish list” which
the school district cannot afford. For
example, in 2011 Music Boosters was able to gift the school two professional
upright pianos, and several years ago they purchased a professional quality soundproof
practice room.
